Introduction
by Geronimo Rubio, M.D.

Cancer is a dramatic illness which demands a dramatic treatment protocol. Cancer rates are increasing every day. It is an aggressive illness that requires an intelligent, aggressive response and an in-depth treatment program consisting of many modalities and protocols with flexibility and congruency, customized for each patient.

The immune system of the cancer patient is typically burdened with other situations in the body and is unable to deal with cancer.

When cells grow and divide, they undergo a specific, regulated process called mitosis. Different factors such as viruses, chemicals, radiation and genetics can cause this process to be disrupted, with a resulting loss of control; when this happens, abnormal cells can develop; grow and divide uncontrollably into two, four, eight, sixteen and millions more abnormal cells. This is cancer.

When symptoms do appear, the tumor can put pressure on the nervous system, with resulting pain, or a big cancerous mass may be detected somewhere in the body.

Cancer cells are simple cells; they don't need a sophisticated scenario to grow and kill people. Typically, a patient's immune system is unable to attack cancer cells because they are encapsulated with a protein that prevents the immune system from recognizing and destroying them. One of the first steps in dealing with cancer is to penetrate the encapsulated protein coat, which will then allow the immune system to attack the cancer. The immune system also undergoes millions of changes. What we need to do in an effective cancer treatment program is to train the immune system to recognize disorders, tumors and keep communicating to itself to mobilize its resources to recognize and destroy abnormalities.

Because various types of cancer are composed of many different types of cells, there are different factors involved, and different causes for the over 100 types of cancer that have been identified. Many cancers are caused by food, environmental chemicals and viruses --influential factors that we need to recognize and correct. From the best scientific research, we know that cancers are hormone-dependent, i.e. they all need hormones to grow.

Revolutionary techniques such as psychoneuroimmunology, which use the brain's ability to create peptides through visualization to attack cancer, are explained. We use unorthodox therapies, such as radiation and chemotherapy in conjunction with immunotherapy and metabolic therapy.

Every person is different, with bodies composed of different genes and proteins. We each have a different likelihood and ability to stop tumors from growing. With the right treatments, many patients can get well.

When a patient is first diagnosed with cancer, their initial defense mechanism is to deny they have cancer, which is the normal reaction. In the days or weeks to come, the patient must learn to deal with their tumor both on psychological and physical levels. Cancer makes the patient both physically and mentally imbalanced.

We use the most advanced techniqniques including immunology, new integrative therapies, and new ways of using orthodox therapies in our treatment protocols. At Rubio Cancer Center we restore the health and balance to the body. We offer exciting and innovative therapies that treat cancer in a customized and unique way. I think you will be quite surprised when finding out about our research and how our therapies work.
