Cancer in General (P. 1/5) Next>

Cancer is a general term used to describe over 100 different diseases. In the early 1900s, cancer was regarded as such a dreaded disease that doctors considered it unethical to tell a patient the truth or to attempt to treat the condition.
In the early 1900s, a diagnosis of cancer was a virtual death sentence. Very few patients survived. By 1935, only 20 percent of cancer patients lived five years past their diagnosis. It was only when the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society began funding studies in the 1930s and 1940s that the first clues about cancer and more promising treatments began to emerge.

Meanwhile, cancer rates continued to increase in the industrialized world. Leading many to believe it is caused in large part by the myriad chemicals we expose ourselves to in our food, air and water.

Cancer therapies offered through the Rubio Cancer Center differ from those in the United States as they enhance the body's natural immune function to deal with cancer. Our Emphasis is on optimizing health and working with the body to attack the disease. In many instances, we use traditional cancer methods along with custom techniques to mollify the negative, life draining side effects of chemotherapy, radiation and other protocols.
